22 eminent people urge Team Anna to call off fast -
New Delhi, Aug 2 - 22 eminent persons, including former Army chief V K Singh, today appealed to Team Anna to call off their indefinite fast as the activists are said to be considering announcing a "political alternative" before ending their stir. "All the people listening to us, watching us tell us whether Team Anna should form a political party," prominent Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan said addressing the protesters this afternoon.

New Delhi, Aug 1 - As Team Anna's fast against corruption entered the eighth day, Congress today said it had never closed its doors for talks but accused the group of going ahead with the agitation "individually and arbitrarily". "When have we said no to talks. We had not asked them to go on fast. We have kept our doors open. They have never been closed. They have gone ahead (with the fast) individually and arbitrarily," Congress spokesperson Renuka Chowdhury said here.

Ghaziabad, Dec 30 - Team Anna today sought to tear into Government on the Lokpal Bill alleging that it engineered the high drama in Rajya Sabha as it did not have the intention to set up a strong anti-corruption ombudsman. Putting the blame squarely on government, Anna Hazare's supporters contended that Government could have passed the bill if it had accepted the three amendments -- independence of CBI, selection and removal process and delinking Lokayukta -- on which opposition was in agreement.

Mumbai, Dec 27 - Within an hour of Anna Hazare begining his three-day fast, his prominent supporters Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi today appealed to him to end the hunger strike taking into consideration his ill health but the activist remained adamant on continuing his protest. "He has fever, let us request him to stop his fast. Anna can continue his dharna," Bedi said addressing supporters at the MMRDA ground where Hazare was sitting on fast.

Ralegan Siddhi/Mumbai, Dec 23 - Anna Hazare today braced himself up for a three-day fast in Mumbai from December 27, forced to cough up about Rs seven lakh as rental for the MMRDA ground after Bombay High Court rejected a petition seeking free or discounted rates for the venue. 74-year-old Hazare, who will undertake the fast to protest against a "weak" Lokpal bill, said he will organise the rental amount through donations from people whose background will be checked.
