Ramdev to take protest against black money to Parliament -
New Delhi, Aug 13 - Ignored by the government, Yoga guru Ramdev today decided to take his protest on black money and corruption to Parliament and vowed to oust Congress in the next Lok Sabha polls. "The government has become completely deaf. We have to make them hear us. Now our protest will be outside Parliament. We are not talking about gherao," Ramdev said while addressing his supporters here.

New Delhi, Aug 9 - Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde was today forced to eat his words and apologise in the Rajya Sabha after he made certain remarks about SP member Jaya Bachchan triggering an uproar. Shinde was replying to a short duration debate on Assam violence and Bachchan, an actress, expressed unhappiness saying the minister was not responding to specific queries raised by members.
Bill for quota to SC/STs in promotions in govt jobs -
New Delhi, Aug 9 - After repeated adjournments in Rajya Sabha and turmoil in Lok Sabha, Government today agreed to members' demand for bringing a Constitution amendment bill for reservation in promotion of SCs and STs in state jobs. Minister of State for PMO V Narayansamy informed the Upper House that a bill will be brought in this regard on August 22 after an all-party meeting, which will discuss the issue on August 21.

New Delhi, Aug 8 - An angry Congress President Sonia Gandhi was at her combative best after senior BJP leader L K Advani today dubbed as "illegitimate" the 2009 election, a remark which he later retracted. It being the first day for Sushilkumar Shinde as Leader of the Lok Sabha, Gandhi virtually took the reins in her hands and signalled party men to protest vociferously.

New Delhi, Aug 8 - BJP leader L K Advani today created a storm in the Lok Sabha by dubbing UPA-II as "illegitimate" but withdrew it after strong protests from Congress. Advani, who came under carping attack with even Congress President Sonia Gandhi leading from the front, later said he was referring to the 2008 confidence vote for which "crores of rupees were spent" to save the government.

New Delhi, Aug 8 - Rajya Sabha was today adjourned twice on issues of Assam violence and alleged desecration of B R Ambedkar's statues in Uttar Pradesh with BSP supremo Mayawati condemning "humiliation" to the architect of Indian Constitution and other dalit icons in the SP-ruled state.

New Delhi, Aug 8 - The issue of Assam violence created turmoil in the Lok Sabha on the first day of the monsoon session today with several opposition members storming the Well.Despite Speaker Meira Kumar admitting an adjournment motion by BJP on the issue, members including those of BJP, Shiv Sena, Bodoland People's Front (BPF) and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) trooped into the Well condemning the violence.

New Delhi, Aug 8 - Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today said the Government was "open" to discussing all issues in Parliament, including the violence in Assam. "I am prepared to discuss, open at any time, even if till midnight we have to sit, yes we will sit and listen to the opposition and everyone," Shinde, who is the new Leader of Lok Sabha, told reporters on the first day of the monsoon session.

RS adjourned without reply on Aircel-Maxis deal - Hindustan Times
Despite an assurance on Tuesday, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee could not make a statement in the Rajya Sabha on the controversial Aircel-Maxis deal on the last day of the budget session of Parliament. The House was adjourned due to a ruckus created by UPA ally DMK and the BJP accused the government of deliberately using DMK to evade opposition questions.
