Rupee up 15 paise against dollar in early trade -
Mumbai, Sept 7 - The rupee rose by 15 paise to 55.51 against the US dollar in early trade today at the Interbank Foreign Exchange on increased capital inflows amid stronger euro overseas.
Sensex up 33 points, closes at 17,346 -

Gold zooms above Rs 32k-level on strong marriage season demand -
New Delhi, Sept 6 - Gold today crossed the coveted Rs 32,000-mark for the first time in the national capital, driven by increased buying by stockists ahead of the marriage season amid a firming global trend. The precious metal gained Rs 320 to Rs 32,300 per 10 grams. It has gained by Rs 1,555 per 10 grams in the last two weeks.
Rupee up 6 paise Vs dollar in early trade -
Mumbai, Sept 6 - The rupee today rose marginally by six paise to 55.85 against the US dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange as the American unit weakened against euro overseas. Forex dealers said euro's gains against the US dollar ahead of a European Central Bank meeting, which could announce new policies to help contain the euro-zone's debt crisis and a higher opening in the domestic equity market, supported the rupee.
Sensex marginally up by over 19 points in early trade -
Mumbai, Sept 6 - The BSE benchmark Sensex today recovered marginally by over 19 points in early trade on selective buying by funds and retailers, tracking a better trend in Asian markets. The 30-share barometer, which had lost 127.53 points yesterday, recovered by 19.18 points, or 0.11 per cent, to 17,332.52 with stocks of IT, realty and metal sectors leading the recovery.
Rupee closes at 55.91 -
Mumbai, Sept 5 - The rupee continued its downslide for the straight third day and depreciated by 25 paise to log its nearly 6-week closing low of 55.91 against the Greenback on heavy dollar demand from importers amid weak local stocks. Strong dollar overseas also weighed on the rupee while renewed capital inflows could not able to stem the fall, a forex dealer said.

Mumbai, Sept 5 - The Sensex today shed 128 points as heavy selling in ICICI Bank, L&T and RIL dragged the index to one-month low levels, amid an insipid trend in global markets ahead of a crucial ECB meeting tomorrow. The BSE benchmark index, which had gained 56 points yesterday, opened weak and traded in negative terrain for most of the session as metal, capital goods and bank shares were under pressure. The rupee, which slipped to near 56-levels against the US dollar, also made investors nervous.
Gold sets new record at Rs 31,980; silver down by Rs 200 -
New Delhi, Sept 5 - Continuing its upward swing, gold today surged to a new all-time high of Rs 31,980 per 10 grams in the national capital on sustained buying by stockists amid a firming global trend. The precious metal, which has been setting new records for the last two weeks, spurted by Rs 130 to Rs 31,980 per 10 grams on brisk buying by stockists for the upcoming marriage season and some investors shifting their funds to bullion from melting equity markets.
Rupee down 17 paise Vs dollar in early trade -
Mumbai, Sept 5 - The rupee today depreciated by 17 paise to Rs 55.83 against the US dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market, due to strengthening of the American currency overseas. Forex dealers said, besides dollar's gains against the euro ahead of a European Central Bank meeting, a weak opening in the stock market and increased demand for the US currency also put pressure on the rupee.
Sensex down nearly 85 points in early trade on profit-booking -
Mumbai, Sept 5 - The BSE benchmark Sensex today declined by nearly 85 points in early trade as participants booked profits amid a weak trend overseas. The 30-share barometer, which had gained over 56 points in the previous session, fell by 84.84 points, or 0.48 per cent, to 17,356.03. All the sectoral indices were trading in the negative zone, with losses up to 0.90 per cent.
