Monday this week saw a heartening vindication of India’s consistent and scrupulous foreign policy that is seldom recognised even at home, much less abroad. On the face of it, President Barack Obama’s visit to Vietnam and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sortie to Iran on the same day were unrelated. But the two separate visits spoke of a trajectory that augurs well for India, the US, and a partnership that is driven by common concerns and objectives despite arriving there from different directions.
