CPI(M) MLA T V Rajesh questioned by police

Kannur, Jul 30 - A Special police team investigating the murder of an Indian Union Muslim League activist Abdul Shookur in February this year today questioned CPI(M) MLA T V Rajesh here.

Earlier, Rajesh had been servied notice to appear before the team on June 17, but he had sought exemption from personal appearance, saying he had to attend the then ongoing assembly session.

Kannur District CPI(M) Secretary P Jayarajan was twice questioned by police earlier in connection with the case. Kannur Superindent of Police Rahul R Nair said Rajesh had cooperated with the officials during questioning.

IUML activist Shukkoor was hacked to death at Keezhara in the district on February 20 last allegedly in retaliation for an attack on Jayarajan and Rajesh, who had gone to Ariyil in the district on the same day.

Meanwhile, police had served notice to Jayarajan again to appear before them for questioning on August 1. PTI
