CBI gets fresh custody of Jagan

Hyderabad, Jun 8 - Andhra Pradesh High Court today granted CBI a two-day custody of YSR Congress Party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy for further questioning in the disproportionate assets case.

The court allowed CBI to question him on Saturday and Sunday. It had earlier remanded Jagan in CBI custody for five days, from June 3 to 7.

CBI had said that further interrogation was needed as it had got more evidence against Jagan. Its lawyer said the investigating agency wanted to confront Jagan with fresh evidence.

Jagan, the son of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, was arrested on May 27.

CBI, in its three charge-sheets, alleges that Jagan and his father hatched "conspiracy" to defraud the government, and Jagan influenced his father in doling out favours to certain firms, which made investments in Jagan's businesses as a quid-pro-quo. PTI
