Cong MLA wears black badge on 1st day of Assembly

Dehra Dun, May 28 - On the first day of Uttarakhand Assembly session today, Congress MLA Harish Dhami protested against the alleged neglect of his Dharchula constituency by wearing a black badge.

Dhami, who belongs to union minister Harish Rawat's camp, threatened to go on an indefinite hunger strike if his demands were not fulfilled by Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna.

Dhami demanded that Dharchula should be declared as a backward area so that people of the border region may get benefits in state government jobs.

He also demanded two hospitals and an engineering college to strengthen the infrastructure facilities in the constituency.

"When the CM (Bahuguna) came to our constituency, he did not meet me. This clearly shows that he is neglecting the area," the MLA said. PTI
