Groundnut oil slides on sustained selling

Mumbai, May 5 - Groundnutoil prices slid further in an otherwise mute oils and oilseeds market here today on sustained stockists selling amidst good arrivals from producing belts. Refined palmolein also eased due to reduced retail offtake on the back bearish Malaysian cues.

In the non-edible segment, castorseed bold and castoroil commercial maintained its downtrend following poor demand from shippers and soap industries. Linseedoil held steady owing to lack of any worthwhile buying.

In futures trade, castorseeds continued to trade lower on selling pressure in the absence of export enquiries.

In the edible section, groundnutoil dropped by Rs 20 per 10 kg to Rs 1,230 from Friday's closing level of Rs 1,250, and refined palmolein edged down by Rs 2 per 10 kg to Rs 662 from Rs 664.

Turning to the non-edible section, castorseeds bold moved down by Rs 25 per 100 kg to Rs 3,250 from yesterday's close of Rs 3,275 and castorseed commercial went down by Rs 5 per 10 kg to Rs 680 from Rs 685. Linseedoil closed unchanged at Rs 770 per 10 kg.

Moving to futures, castorseed for June contract resumed lower at Rs 3,354 and declined further to Rs 3,314 before closing at Rs 3,329 over its previous close of Rs 3,364, showing a fall of Rs 35 per tonne. PTI
