Madrid, Apr 21 - Asking Indian envoys to focus on commerce, consular and community-related matters, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna today highlighted the need for "proactive approach" by Ambassadors on all issues, including the racial attacks on compatriots.

In his address to the 28 Indian Heads of Missions in Europe here, Krishna also asked the envoys to initiate innovative solutions aimed at improving quality of India's engagement with Europe.

Krishna "highlighted the need for a proactive approach by the Ambassadors on all issues, including the racial attacks on Indians and urged the Ambassadors to ponder over three issues -- commerce, consular and community," an official said.

The meeting was the biggest gathering of Indian Ambassadors in Europe. Krishna had arrived here yesterday for the India-Spain Foreign Ministers' meeting.

Speaking to the ambassadors, Krishna said developing countries are proponents of globalisation while there are apprehension that developed countries are turning against globalisation. Krishna will also call on Prince Felipe and hold delegation-level talks with Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia. He will also meet the Foreign Minister of Andorra Gilbert Saboya. PTI
