40 per cent of human rights violation in Bihar by police


Patna, July 13 - Altogether 12490 cases, mostly relating to police atrocities, have been received by the Bihar State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) during the past four years, SHRC member Neelmani said.

Neelmani informed that the commission was set up in 2009 and have received 12490 complaints till now, out of which 40 per cent of the cases, were related to police atrocities.

The commission received 2726 complaints in 2009, 3690 in 2010, 3827 in 2011 and 2247 till May this year, mostly relating to police atrocities.

"We are also receiving complaints against medical practitioners for alleged human rights violation," Neelmani said.

Efforts are being made to sincerely resolving the grievances,he said. PTI
