Jammu, June 29 - As many as 414 people were killed and 3715 injured in 2,537 accidents in Jammu and Kashmir up to May this year.

"414 people were killed and 3,715 persons were injured in 2,537 accidents in Jammu and Kashmir till last month this year", a senior police officer said.

Compared to it, 1,120 people were killed and 10,108 others injured in 6,644 accidents in 2011 year, he said. In 2010, he said, 1,042 people were killed and 8,709 injured in 6,136 mishaps.

Meanwhile, the traffic police has collected fines totalling Rs 3,06,17,411 from 92,684 vehicles for various violations of traffic rules up to May end. PTI
