Shimla, Jun 23 - Shimla and various parts of Himachal Pradesh were today lashed by showers and thunderstorm leading to a sharp decline in temperatures.
Temperature in the state capital dropped by six notches to settle at 22 deg C.
Earlier in the day, mercury had touched 28.4 deg C mark even as the sky was partially overcast, but the temperature plummeted after sudden rains and storm.
Una remained hottest in the region with maximum temperature at 40.8 deg C against 43.4 deg C yesterday.
Kumarsen was recorded 30 deg C, Baijnath 26 deg C Jogindernagar 15 deg C, Palampur 13.5 deg C, Dalhousie 13 deg C, Sundernagar 12.5 deg C, Mandi 11 deg C, Pandoh 9 deg C, Nadaun 7 deg C, Kufri 6 deg C while Kheri and Sangrah recorded 3 deg C each.
Bhuntar and Dharamsala recorded a low of 37.5 deg C, followed by Sundernagar 36.9 deg C, Nahan 34.8 deg C, Solan 34.0 deg C and Kalpa 27.2 deg C.
Kumarsen was wettest in the region with 30 mm of rains while Baijnath recorded 26 mm rains followed by Jogindernagar 15 mm, Palampur 13.5 mm, Dalhousie 13 mm, Sundernagar 12.5 mm, Mandi 11 mm, Pandoh 9 mm, Nadaun 7 mm and Kufri 6 mm.
The local MeT office has predicted rains or thunderstorm at isolated places during next 24 hours with marginal fall in mercury. PTI
