SP govt focusing on Muslim appeasement, ignoring farmers: BJP

Bareilly, Apr 26 - The BJP today accused the SP government in Uttar Pradesh of following a policy of Muslim appeasement while neglecting issues of law and order, inflation and farmers' problems

"There has been a growth in crime graph, anarchy is on the rise and police are behaving in an arbitrary fashion," BJP leader Santosh Gangwar alleged.

"As of now the UP government is concentrating only on Muslim appeasement and it has no concern for law and order, inflation and farmers' problems," he said.

The former Union minister alleged that the SP government was ignoring the interests of backward Kurmi community. "Uttar Pradesh government is casteist and is neglecting the Kurmis by denying them proper representation," Gangwar told reporters here.

The BJP leader said that though the earlier governments had given proper representation to Kurmis by allotting at least two cabinet berths to them, it is not the case in the present government.

On the local bodies elections, the BJP leader said that his party has started the selection process for candidates.

"The Samajwadi Party would come to know of its real standing in these polls," he said. PTI
