Namakkal (TN),Apr 19 - Twelve persons, including eight women, were killed and 11 others injured in an accident involving a van and private bus at Rasipuram, 27 km from here today, police said.

While eight died on the spot, four succumbed to injuries in hospital, they said. The mishap occurred when the driver of the van lost control of the vehicle as one of the tyres burst. The van was carrying employees of a garments firm.

The injured have been admitted to Government Hospitals at Salem and Rasipuram and a private hospital. PTI
