Notification issued for Payakaraopeta Assembly bypoll
Visakhapatnam, May 18 - The district administration had taken all measures for the conduct of free and fair bypoll on June 12 for the Payakaraopeta(SC) Assembly constituency.
Nominations from contesting candidates will be received from today as the notification for election process has been issued today, District Collector Lav Agarwal, who is the Election Officer, told reporters.
Last date for submitting the nominations was May 25 and scrutiny will take place on May 26. The last date for withdrawal of candidatures was May 28.
The Payakaroapeta (SC) constituency, with an electorate of 2,01,364 including 99,098 men and 1,02,010 women and 256 service, comes under four mandals - Payakaraopeta, Nakkapalli, S Rayavaram and Kotavurtla.
The Election Commission had appointed Robin Choudhary, an Income Tax official form Kolkata, as an expenditure observer for the bye-election.
The administration had taken all steps to conduct the training classes for the polling staff, Agarwal said.
In all, 231 polling stations will be set up and micro observer will be placed at every polling station to oversee the election process. Also, 17 polling stations had been identified as hyper-sensitive and 31 as sensitive ones.
Sufficient EVMs will be available for the election, he said.
District Superintendent of Police (Rural) G Srinivasa Rao said sufficient police personnel will be deployed for the election bandobust.
Out of 25 licensed arms holders in the constituency, 23 had already deposited their arms, Rao added. PTI
